Boxer holiday decoration

2017 was my first year in a house in the suburbs after 13 years of living in a 700 square-foot loft apartment in downtown Nashville. In that time, I'd avoided collecting any holiday ornamentation since it would have meant a commitment to storing it somewhere in the off seasons. It didn't even occur to me until late in December that I should probably get to work on that.

I got some inspiration from a neighborhood woman I sometimes encounter on my morning walks with the dogs.

"I like that fake dog you have in your window."

"Huh?"

"That stuffed dog you have sitting in your front window, sometimes."

"I think you mean her," I said, indicating Josie.

It is Josie's habit in the morning to observe the front yard while I finish my coffee. In this, she is un-moving and unblinking for long stretches of time. She can be a little intense. Anyway, an idea was born. My original concept, which I have yet to fully execute, was to create some seasonally themed accessories I could use year-round. Witch's hat. Cupid's bow. That kind of thing. I'll circle back to it someday. because I still like the idea.
